    Default Living Like The Amish

The ice storm has done a number on Indiana
Over 100,000,000 without heat and lights

They were putting them up in schools, churches wherever

They have crews and heard they are added more

    Kentucky
    Indiana
    North Carolina
    More coming

Been 5 days with out heat or lights

We have taken lessons from the Amish

    Wear 4 layers of clothing

If one needed any of the below, best call around
as it was first come and first serve.

Got a power generator $800. Ouch

One store sold 47 generators in one day, they were
shipping in generators from all over by trucks and
    making a killing on markups

kerosene stoves where flying out the doors.
Fire trucks were busy also guess why.

The generator we bought 5,500 watts,
    runs 2 small space heaters

    electric blanket
    Ice box
    2 small space heaters
    Internet (got to have that)

We cook on kerosene stove (an heat)

    Eggs
    Chili
    Coffee

    ................again

    Eggs
    chili
    Coffee

Plus it gives out heat. At night we shut it off, concered
    about safety

Here is proof , if you look close enough you can see who
is doing the cooking (eggs) and who is laid back, shoes in the foreground

I feel for you guys!!! While we got alot of ice in my area of Vermont folks south of us lost out with their power and now we had two snow storms raking up upwards to 20+ inchs to add to the misery.

Hope you guys hang in there, and try to stay warm. BE SAFE!!!!!

Always good to have chili in the freezer ready for such emergencies. We lost power several years ago while living in Charlotte. It was out for several days and it seemed that our neighborhood was one of the last to be restored. We were one of the lucky ones though. We had 3 fireplaces in the house with gas logs in one and our kithcen stove was gas. That with a lot of wood for the fireplaces we kept comfortable. One plus for gas is that you still have it even when the electric is off.

    Just keep warm and safe.

Hope You get some of that electric stuff back quickly.

We have had up to 2 + weeks with out power from Hurricanes and have and idea of what you are going thru ... not the cold part as we need to turn on some fans then to get a little of the sweat blown off ... Have been with out generator before but there is one sitting in the shop ready to go if needed.

Hope all you people up that way get some relief.

Power is back up 5 days 4 hours
That was only half of the problems.

Was using one car and the power steering and brakes went out,
they wont fix it until next week.

So I started the other car, had it running the fuel pump went out
    borrowed a car.

Now the wifes major front tooth filling fell out.

Glad all this is happening that means we will have
    a good year next year.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS
