    Default Kohlrabi

Didnt know where to put this. It aint crappie so Crappie Cookin Forum didnt fit. Figgered it would be safe here since it is bipartisan kohlrabi.
I know, kinda of a sad joke anymore.

Ok, we grew it on the farm as a kid. We ate it raw or steamed it. I planted some this fall and have a beautiful, bug-free heavy stand of kohlrabi. I thinned it also soon after it came up so its a dandy crop. What do those of ya all who eat it do with it? I have been on cooks.com and also the horticultural sites but wanted feedback from good ol American kohlrabi eaters,
    everyday, run-of-the-mill type stuff.
I appreciate any and all info and thank you.

I would just peel it, slice it thin, season with salt pepper and chow down.
Also might peel, slice thin then slightly moisten and microwave for about 30 seconds, check to see of they are softening up, if not just zap for another 5 seconds. Serve up and enjoy.:D:D:D
Nothing better than HOME GROWN fresh vegetables.
I envy you, being able to grow your own garden. I had a great garden when I lived in North Carolina, but now I am living in Florida and the development where I live the lots are to small for gardening.

You bet! Yur the one got me thinkin about it. I cant remember how big Mom let em get but they suggest harvesting when they are about 2" dia. This will coincide with the bash perfectly. Had to look up and see when suggested optimum planting date for here was and followed it. Amazing how growing in the right time of year and not bucking mother nature grows the very best crop- this is the first yr I have planted a fall garden and used the same radish seed that I used in the spring. I had dandy radishes last spring but I got double-dandy radishes now. I stagger my plantings 2 wks for a continuous
harvest and the ones I am picking now are noticeably bigger & nicer than even the ones planted 2 wks before them.

I like it baked in the oven with onions, sausage, and garlic, hollow it out a little, mix onion sausage and garlic togather, cook in skillet. when done. put in the kohlrabi and bake at 350 till the kohlrabi is tender. works with trunips also.
