Ok, no - when my kids started shooting .22s at age six or so, it was ONLY
with my hand around the forearm making sure it stayed pointed down range.

The other subject here, subguns - I really have no use for one, too short
range and wasteful of ammo for any situation I'm likely to face.
But since we're on the subject of what we should or should not have...

Anybody remember seeing on tv when the riots were going on in LA?
I remember seeing some store owners barricaded behind bales of cardboard
protecting their stores with AR15s. I don't think their stores got looted. That's one reason we need military
type weapons, to protect what's ours when society wants to run amuck.
Oh, I can get by well enough with a shotgun or deer rifle, but nothing
wrong with having the right tool for the job.

The other is our government. Some of you won't like this, whatever -
but a well-armed population is a vital, last-ditch protection against
a run away government in my opinion. No, don't think we're there yet,
but I do think we'd be fools to believe it could never come to that.
It happens all around the world, no reason to think we're too good
    or somehow above it.

Classic case of negligence and stupidity on the part of the adults involved in this incident, nothing more ,nothing less. It's not the gun's fault. Every gun show I have ever attended requires all guns to be unloaded and checked before entering the premises.

You are not getting the point! I have no use for an uzi right now either, but WHEN YOU START BANNING GUNS, WHERE DOES IT STOP, and how do you intend to stop it?

i just dont see any legit need for automatic weapons if yournot in military.. shoot the police dont have em .. basically only people with these weapons are gang members and collectors whose kids get hold of em when they get picked on from school

I would never let a child that young shoot a full auto. The Micro is a very nasty little gun. Lots of fingers have been removed by them. The father is a total moron. As for the ownership of class 3 weapons,I think any law abiding citizen who can clear the BATF should be able to own any item they wish.More people die of bee stings each year than by the owners of these weapons. As for Uzi's being used in school killings, get your facts straight. They are using $500 semi auto, and not $5000 full auto .The semi is no more than a large clip pistole'.Again, the father is a moran.

It all goes back to the saying if guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns.If you're an avid hunter and see no use for an uzi in hunting applications, I'll agree. But on the other hand, an avid shooter or competetion shooter may have a legitimate use for such a firearm. We (gun owners) are all in this together. When we start arguing amongst our selves over what guns should be controlled and what guns shouldnt we're doing just what the antis want. Its times like these that all gun owners stick together.A tragic accident indeed, but I dont feel it was the Uzis fault.

SHILD???What do you mean ILLEGAL DRUGS=BAD GUY'S WON'T GET THEM--AND NO ONE SELLS THEM--Are you joking? Do you really believe that no one is selling drugs because they are illegal? Illegal drugs are a huge part of what causes most gun related violence. That is FACT. To say that just because Drugs being Illegal makes it any harder for street thugs to put their hands on them is a joke. Same with guns, I do agree to an extent about fully auto weapons but on the other hand I have never seen any weapon rather it be a single shot or fully auto shoot someone on its own. It is the as-h-l- that is behind it. Doing away with guns to me is not the answer. It is holding the piece of s-i- that is commiting the crimes accountable for the crimes. To me it is a major problem with our country these days. The man that pulls the trigger is usually hit alot less than the man that sold it to him or the company that made it. My 2 cents...As for the kid mentioned in this post it is a true shame and once again someone should have to take reasponsibility for it. A gun in the hands of a child no matter what the kind is a very dangerous setting if the adults in charge are not smart enough to enforce safety. An 8 year old with an uzi no matter how you slice it is just unacceptable..

hahaah...of course, I am joking! I was trying to point out the ignorance of saying things like banning guns will stop gang members from getting it...I was laying on the sarcasm very heavily!!

Jeff, you are right on about a well armed population being the best deterrent for a runaway government. I for one have a couple pieces for deterrence and a few for sport as well. While I dont think weapons like that should be as easy to get, they should be available to law abiding citizens who have demonstrated the responsibility to own them.
