I'm one of the fortunate ones this time. Electricity flickered off and on about a dozen times but we never lost power. I strongly believe this was due to the fact that I purchased a generator and window unit air conditioner in anticipation of no power for days. I didn't have any damage that's shown up yet. There are plenty of people that do have damage enough. I know of at least one death in Lafayette due to a tree crashing in on someone.---Pooch

I sleep very well at night not worried whether a radical muslim, christian, jew, or hindu is going to get me. I spend more time wondering if gas is gonna jump back up to $4/gallon because of 'speculators,' and wonder how long before the war with Iran starts because of a 'Gulf of Tonkin' type incident. I think that greed has made some politicians make very risky choices, and I don't think it's a wise idea to continue to support politicians that put profit first and the American people last.

Lets see the NASDAQ was at 4069.13 at the start of 2000 and at 2470.52 at the end of 2000. At the end of 2001 it was at 1950.41.
The DJIA (Dow) was at 11497.12 at the start of 2000 and 10786.85 at the end of 2000. At the end of 2001 it was 10021.57.
In my opinion that is when this economic down turn started. Who was president then?
