    Thumbs up 3000 miles

I drive a Chevy Venture van 2004. My son, Master Tec., says bring it in every 3000 mi. I like his way of thinking as he goes completly over it and nips any potential problems in the bud.
Did you know a large portion of the new oil you are buying is recycled used oil in most cases?

One reason I have heard put forward in favor of more frequent oil
changes is that "stuff", by-products of the combustion process,
some of them acidic, can affect seals, cause corrosion of bearings,
other nasty stuff... filter don't do much in the way of removing it,
    I take it. I change my goat's around 4,000 - all 11 qts of it :p
book said 7,500 normal service, 3,750 severe duty. I know I'm either
towing, or short trips, one or the other, and both qualify as severe use.

I always change the oil every 3,000 miles in all my cars so that is not a problem. You would just think that the manufacturer could make up their mind.
This is exactly what I was indirectly talking about. I only put 8000 miles a year on my truck. I get 3 months or 3000 miles notices all the time.

I put more miles on my trolling motor than I do on my truck.

I do 5000 as the owner's manual states. I've got over 175000 origional owner miles on my '97 TBird w/4.6. Been having it changed at the dealer since new. NO smoke and runs great. New Motorcraft 5w30oil is synthetic blend now, even though it costs the same as conventional, motorcraft filter, all for $20.

No need to add more waste oil to the environment than necessary.

Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

And we act like this Nightstalking thing is new.

For some excitment, read the next verse. A special guest arrived, they filled their coolers and had a fish fry on the beach...in the morning. My kind of people.- Bowfin

We change our fleet of police cars every 5000 miles...can't tell if it makes a difference or not..as some of those police officers would tear a tank up. They drive them hard....

3,000 miles here for oil changes. My wife works for a natural gas co and she pulled oil samples from the companys trucks and after 3,000 miles bad stuff started happening to the oil. My trucks always have went 250,000 to 300,000miles with no trouble and a oil change and check of all fuilds is the cheapest thing for me that I can do.

    Question Anybody Here ...

Does anyone use Seafoam in their oil ??

I've used it in my gas, but have not tried it in the oil.

My 94 Chevy S10 Blazer was bought new ... oil changes every 3000mi +/- ... mostly in-town driving (but have used it to haul boats, on occasion). I have less than 100,000mi on it (after 14yrs of driving it). I don't expect adding Seafoam, to the oil, to allow me to go 5000mi between changes ... but, I would like to know if adding it would help keep it running cool and trouble free. And, also, would it help to increase my mpg ??

    The truck is : 1994 Chevy S10 Blazer - 4dr - V6 4.3L Vortec (enhanced version ... 200HP) 2 wheel drive

I use it in everything I've got that runs on gas but never tried it in the oil. If it does as good in the oil as it does in gas it might be worth it.

I agree with huntinslabs. My oil monitor never comes on 'cause I change oil/filter every 5000 like manual suggests.
