He'll have to have it looked at by a police officer and ran threw LEAN to make sure it isn't reported stolen or registered to someone that doesn't know it's been.
Very good topic.
We should all rethink our buying habits.
I just ran across this.......be sure & be careful when not buying (and paying for) a boat in person......

Evidently that site selling boats turned-out to be one big scam operation from what I gathered. I hate seeing honest people ripped-off....and I hate scammers & thieves
I hate to see a rip-off too - but did ya'll read all the way through
this thing? Supposedly dude's from Ohio, bought the boat from a
lady in London, and the boat has Florida stickers. He PAID for it
over the internet just going by pictures
All the while I was reading this, I was picturing a sail boat, or big cruiser,
or some kind of antique... looked at the link provided, and it's a Tracker
fishing boat You'd think he coulda found one he could at least look
at in person?
Maybe it was such a deal it would make someone greedy, try to jump on
it before somebody else got it? Or maybe they did him a favor, may be
better off if he doesn't ever get it, probably drown :p

Yeah, I read it all, I was thinking the price was $1500-1700? But (without re-reading) I was thinking the boat may have been in Florida? Anycase, whatever shipping was, the buyer must have felt it still made it a "good deal". Looked like someone on the link had researched the selling site alittle, looks like it was based overseas.
Still a bad choice by the buyer, but maybe he was just the trusting type.....something that's many times not such a good idea nowadays in a situation like this. I got jipped (for $20) last year on Feebay. My mistake was thinking the site would protect its buyers....WRONG! Never again.......
Guess my point of this post was just a reminder of....buyer beware...
