The man that started the cutting for me calls it an everlasting fig. His tree makes tons of figs. Right now he has thousands of figs on his tree of all sizes. Last year in November he still had figs on his tree and they tasted great. The figs reach the size of a large plum and are a golded color. I ate three off his tree when I picked the tree up a week ago. The figs come out all over the tree not just on the ends of the limbs like a normal tree. He told me not to plant it until November. When I get it established I am going to root some cuttings to plant at my father in laws.

Nimrod, I dug this old thread cause I have a question for you.

I grew some water melon seed indoors into plants about 6 inches, and finally got em out in a flower bed about 3 feet apart from one and other. If you are anybody else knows about melons, what now to get em really going? Is it too late for them to grow melons, and will they come back next spring?

I plan on building a true garden next year after this last pup gets to be over a year old.

    Thanks,

    The Incompetent Gardner

I hope you have a large flower bed Luke. I don't want to discourage you, but watermelons take up a lot of space. I gave up on watermelons, but grow cantaloupes every year. This was from 3 days ago.
6' spacing for hills. 3 plants per hill. 10' between rows.
