“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide.” Ayn Rand

Keep the vehicle well maintained and SLOW DOWN (slow acceleration when you can, drive the speed limit on highways, and coast/brake slowly when you can).
I recently did everything above on a 200 mile run (one way). On the return trip I drove faster, had a larger load on the vehicle, and the traffic did not allow for coasting stops and slow accelaration...20% reduction in fuel economy...

My 4.8 liter engine in my '07 Chevy extended cab was rated at 20 mpg when I bought it. (I think the 4.8 is equal to a 292 cubic inches.) Anyway, I never paid much attention to the mileage till about two months ago. Even after I slowed down a bit, rarely over 60 mph, no fast starts or stops, trying to keep the tachometer under 1,800 even during takeoffs, I was getting around 17.5 mpg. I changed my oil, (Royal Purple, 5w30) air filter and tossed in a fuel injection cleaner. I am now getting around 19.1 mpg. I'd like to know how they drive to establish a vehicles MPG rating. Most of the miles I drive are on the road and rarely in the city. Another thing I do is put it in neutral when beggining a downhill run. That lets the tach sit around 500 rpm's.
Anyone know?

My tires on my truck are getting close to the ware bars, time for a new set of tires. I was thinking of getting a new set of tires that are a little bit narrower, say an inch to inch and a half also not as aggressive tread. I have M/S deeper lugs for going off road. What do you think? I have tires that are nine and a quarter inches wide now. My thinking is less friction on the road.
