I just saw a show on www.myoutdoortv.com on that bird. It was done by environmentalist and oh yeah, We are the worlds problems again. Hatteras is screwed and the rest of the OBX unless you like looking at birds on the beach through binoculars at 500 yards away. Those folks are lunatics. CF

Ive never felt so violated. Id rather surf fish than crappie fish. A 40"+ drum, head down in the current off of the point is something words can't describe. I'm lucky enough to have experienced it, and wish that all generations from here on out could get to as well. It doesn't matter though as long as we have som m*#$@*$ f*$##@*% bird to look at tho. SOBs. If you ever read any of the salt water forums I'm on, this is why I dont post. I have nothing to say about it, short of what will get me a one way ticket to hell when I leave this earth. So I try to hold my own about it.

I know what you mean TreednNC, I have been going down there all my life. Only an hour away. I was sick of the over bloated tourism down there. the only thing left for me down there was the boat and beach fishing. I guess the beach is outa the question. What really ticks me off about the whole deal is that I don't know how they can say the birds were there before us. It did not use to be Duned up sea oat growed up sanctuary. It was a glorified sand bar and people would pull off of 12 and drive anywhere they wanted for the most part. They act like it has been that way since the dinosaurs. I know dang well, more of those birds get killed by predators than man will ever kill. I don't mind them putting the little cages around the nest and a small buffer to keep people away, That is a good compromise in my opinion. What they want is outrageous and just plain communism. CF

Its not about the birds. Its a power trip between conflicting interest groups. The Audobon Society and DOW could put the money they make in a week into the lawsuits and still probably be more than what OBPA and NCBBA could do. Who can fill the wallets of the judge quicker.

They refuse to show the data showing the chick mortality from Nor'Easters washing all the way up to the dunes. It's crooked. They dont give all the facts.

It was awesome!!! We used to surf, Duck, Waves, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Oka (something I think). It was something I will never forget doing as a 16 year old kid with a few buddies.
