Just started, and threads are loaded with multiple ads. Anybody else seeing this?

Were you a supporter? If you were and it expired that is most likely why.

If buying something from the store would make one a supporter, then yes that is probably it.

On the top of your page there is a membership tab. Scroll down and there is a Crappie.Com supporter area. The drop down box allows you three membership terms from 6 months to two years and the osts of each. It helps defray costs for the site servers etc. I have asked Slab to chime in as well but he might have his head in a F100 Yammy today trying to future out a compression issue so it might be a bit before he gets to it. I hope this helps you.

Speckfinder, Thank you for your post.

I looked and you have not been a "Supporter", so you should see the regular number of ads. Yes, you should see an ad in the first post in a thread, and the last post in a thread, but it should not be loaded. Unless maybe you are not logged in, then you would actually see a few more. Make sure you're logged in. Then if you're still seeing a ton of ads, I'd suggest that you might have a virus, but I don't really know.

As a side note, I only use my own ads, or Google Ads. I don't use other ad programs because in the past other, 3rd party ad programs, have introduced some very questionable ads (including pop ups, long response times...). Only Google Adsense is good IMHO.

Speckfinder, I can optionally make you a "Supporter" for a month free, just so you know what you can expect. Just a thought.

No need, I was just curious, my post wasn't intended to be negative. I don't mind the ads, just part of the internet these days.

If you are using a phone, download the app. Not a single ad. I use the app for other reasons, easier to reply and faster load times, but no ads is a bonus i guess.

However, seeing and clicking on the ads if they seem interesting to you helps fund the website.

I have to apologize to Speckfinder. I think I just found what he was talking about. So I previously posted that I only use Google Adsense for ads. Well as it turns out they "experiment". They got this goofy thing called "Adsense Experiments". They experiment on your site (my site, crappie.com) for 7 days to show you the results, in order to talk you into running the experiment permanently. Well, there was an "experiment running" that I seen this morning. I turned it off. I believe that may very well be what speckfinder was seeing. I only seen it on the Missouri Forum, so most members might not have run across it. Unreal how these monopolies operate! They just do what ever the heck they want, and you have to turn it off manually if you don't like it!
