    Default Old Reel Collector

I collect old reels and was curious if any of you would like to start an off topic forum to share your knowledge for us all to learn from each other. I primarily collect Penn,Mitchell,Cardinal,& DAM Quick spinning reels.I service and repair all of my reels & fish with most of them, but do have a few shelfies on display.

Welcome aboard. I have a few old ones myself. Don't do much with them. Sometimes they go out and catch fish
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

The only old spinner I have is a RECORD Half-bail from Switzerland made in the 1950's I think. It was given to me by my Dad when I was about 9 when I bought my first two piece rod. Caught my first fish on that rig, . It may be a wall hanger now but it means a bunch to me.

I put rod floats on all the vintage gear I have,& do not want to lose any. I have had it happen a few times with modern combos.

Used to own a couple of Mitchell 300's (many decades ago) and sold them to a friend to use for distance casting tournaments at the local Sportsman's Club. The Mitchell's I own/use now are the 308x's.

I do have several "old" reels that date back a few decades (not currently being used):

    Diawa Procaster SM-2A baitcast reel
    Shimano Bantam Mag baitcast reel
    Johnson Jerk spincast reel
    (2) Zebco Omega 171 spincast reels
Johnson Country Mile 10 spinning reel

And a couple baitcast reels that do see some use on the occasion of my yearly Birthday Night Bass Fishing trip :

Shimano Calcutta 200 baitcast (on my crankbait rod)
Quantum Energy E760PT baitcast reel (on my worm rod)
    ABU Ambassadeur 2500C (backup reel)

First reel I ever owned & bought with my own money was a ABU Ambassadeur 5500C baitcast reel ($50) which was top of the line back in those days (early 1970's). Last "new" reels I've bought was the two Mitchell 308x's.
