Hey Jesse,
May I would suggest a clean out bushing with plug flush mounted with the floor installed with a T to join the main line and a length on SCH 40 to bring it to floor level? Sure would help if you have a future backup.
Found out about 3 weeks ago that I had some sort of problem with my sewer that would require me to dig it up. I got someone to run a camera for me. The problem was found right where the garage meets the driveway. In this time we have been unable to shower, wash dishes, or do laundry. Pretty much anything more than washing our hands or flushing the toilet would cause water to back up in the basement floor.
Today with the help of my good friends and future father in law we were able to fix it. It was my first time using a lot of these tools such as jack hammer, concrete saw, big auger, and some giant metal wheel thing they called a “drain snake” that thing was a beast. I am so sore. But we were finally able to get it done. Ended up digging it up, busting a piece of pipe, angering it, snaking it, and then used the torpedo to blow the clog out. Then had to fix the pipe we broke to get to the clog. Then had to create a bandaid out of pvc and rubber boots to put it all back together. Then, we made a trap door to cover the hole. Big big long day. But very rewarding when I got to take my first shower at home in over 3 weeks. I’m going to sleep good tonight lol

Glad you got it fixed. That's one Sh@tty job right there!

Next time call roto rooter. Much easier and not awful price. They probably would have lifted a commode and ran from inside out. Don't get me wrong, glad for you. If I had seen this earlier before you tackled it I would have suggested it. And the way you did it may have been best, but don't hurt to ask. I had 3 teenage daughters, Let me tell you soap and hair can clog. Used to roto rooter from house to septic every other year.
I work for the city. I had the sewer dept go out and run a camera for me and found out where the blockage was. I had another city employee who does work on the side look at it and asked him what he would charge for the whole job and he said anywhere between 3-5k. I got the saw, the jackhammer, and the auger all donated from friends, whole project ended up only costing me roughly $100 between materials and food/beverages for the helpers. Lol. Very hard work, but I got off easy on the price. It’s worth the work to save the hard earned cash lol

You did great and the other was over priced. Definitly a good call on your part. That's a lot of cash for the new wife to spend. haha. What was the block. Ours was always pushed to the septic tank. Had to pull the baffle cover and fish it out as it extruded. Sometimes it would be several feet long. It looked like a big white greasy worm.
By the way, your post gave me the idea to post on the main page that if anyone has a problem, put it out there for all of us to see. Somebody on C.c probably has an idea of how to fix it. Thanks for the idea, with your ingenuity I'm sure you will help someone with an idea sometimes. Again great job on saving that money. I am an older retired guy and let me tell you every dollar helps. I didn’t actually get to see the blockage come out as I was at the other end of the line feeding the hose, but the guys down on the city clean out side said it looked like a 4ft long log of poo, hair, and wipes. I’d say there was also some leftover pieces from deer processing as well as I use the slop sink that feeds into the same line. It was just backing up and coming out at the coupling where two pieces of cast iron pipe meet. Very lucky it was as easy a fix as it was. I was expecting much worse
