They’ll have to be sent out truck line for heat treat. We heat treat in house, but have trouble getting max hardness on this M4. It has to soak at 2150 degrees for some hours, then be jerked out and air quenched in front of fans. Try opening and unloading a oven at 2150. Make your fire suit and gloves smoke if you tarry.
Anyway, right now they are .030 oversize in diameter, and .020 in length. When I get them back, have to finish cut (hard turn) them, polish with diamond compound, then send them out for the coating process. Guess they’ll have to swap over and run different parts for awhile, cause this ain’t gonna happen overnight. And there ain’t but one of me Machinist

Very cool. Although no where as complicated it reminds me of the flexo printing cylinders and dies for printing we use.

My home away from home sidekick for over 30 years. Name: IMG_2492.jpg

Size: 91.6 KBZoom in you’ll notice the ciggs lighter coffee cup and junk food. 5th drawer In bottom box is half occupied by viennies, buffalo chicken salad, crackers, granola bars, spoons and aluminum foil. Gotta eat and stay caffeinated and nicotined. Always keep an eye out when office gets new chairs, see if their cast offs are better than what you have. I scored a genuine nauga skin a few weeks ago Machinist

Only thing I can think of is occasionally plastic, nylon, etc.
ran on the same equipment, I’ve just got different cutting tools for that, high positive rake. I have ran mills, grinders, edm and things, but my knack is lathe work. They know I like it, so thats where I stay. Unless I’m making a car/mc/boat part lol.
