Hmm let me think on this….Amazing Grace first to mind.
We’ve had some good conversations here in the past about it, but kinda wish we had a place here for ongoing conversation. I know we are a diverse bunch here, with varied tastes which is great. But several post lately have got me thinking about this. One for example, was about job satisfaction. I’ve been a tool & diemaker for over 30 years, been through a lot of emotions about it over the years. Seems a bit of a dying trade. But I have loved it, and it’s been good to me. I do love my music, and one that really spoke to me was Cody Jinks, a song called “Grey”. Would like to hear about songs that have meaning to y’all?

If I do share links to music, beware if you have sensitive ears is all I can say. Believe it or not, I have country and even bluegrass albums in my collection with explicit labels lol. Kinda like adding hot sauce to food, a little profanity just seasons.

All of the skilled trades are a dying breed. No one wants to do them any more. Very few stepping up to replace those that are ending their careers

This one right here is really resonating with me right now. Some things I’m going through with family.
The line where he says I said I’d forgive her, but guess I lied. I just can’t hide the way I feel.
I can’t, and I’m cool with that.

George Jones is always good. Waylon as well.

My music tastes have been all over the place in my lifetime. But, country music has not been at the top of my preferences. Got nothing against it, just didn't grow up listening to it. Never really made any effort to listen to music in general until in my teens, which happened to be around the time the Beatles & Stones became popular. I went thru the Disco era, but never bought records much in that time frame. In fact, I have a record, CD, & cassette collection that's not been played all that much over the last 40yrs. I just don't sit around and play/listen to music at home. Most of the time I'm listening to music is when I'm driving, and the local "oldies" stations are what plays on them.
Many songs have (or have had) "meaning" to me, but most of the older ones involve relationships. Those songs from the 80's & 90's that I like, have no such "meaning", but are just fun songs to listen to.
A few that do resonate with me are:
"Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam (about getting the death notification of a military soldier)
"Zombie" by the Cranberries (about the IRA bombings in England killing kids)
"Lightening Crashes" by Live (circle of life & commonality of humanity)
