Job satisfaction

Long ago I realized being happy at work was my thing . My skills are somewhat sought after in my industry and it would be fairly easy to go elsewhere and be unhappy for 2 to 3 times my current wages.
The point is this , only one boss now , he owns the place.
He and I get along well . I am past retirement age as of last year and still work there .
Would I take pay cut to like my job you ask ?
I did 23 years ago when I went to work there , just saying

Be careful. All jobs have quirks. How would you know you would be satisfied at new career. Grass always seems greener somewhere else. Not trying to discourage you just feel like I would need to pray about that one. Much discernment needed to make that decision. If your making good money and have good co workers. Better think hard. Personally, I would try and figure out why you dislike what you are doing. If you can figure that out, step one is done. From there, I would ask myself, what do I really want to be doing. Armed with that information, I would approach my boss and have an open and frank discussion with them about it. If they are a good boss/leader, they will work with you to try and make the position better and a better fit for you.

True. For over forty years, I drilled oil and gas wells to a point being a superintendent and consultant, $1,800 to $2,500 a day. Now very content being an instructor teaching petroleum engineering here at the university. I never understand why some post - "better than being at work". If folks don't like what they're doing, then bail. Life is too short.

I have been praying about it daily No clear answer from the Lord on it
So I have weighed the pros and cons, which I think is prudent. It means probably a pay cut, it means a 60 daily round trip commute(which means less time with the fam and less time to fish), and an increased workload for my wife. Currently she does the overwhelming majority of taking kids to all of their activities, but with me working from home she at least doesn't have to take everyone every time. The pros would be totally selfish and probably benefit only me. So I am leaning toward passing and just learning to deal better with my frustrations at my current job.
Now, if God gives me a loud, clear messaage to go for it...

No way if I was in IT I'd take a 60 minute one way commute! At best adding 10 hours a week and a ton of expense plus wear and tear on a vehicle.

Work life balance way more important to me. Lots of IT jobs around just keep looking and find what you feel is right before you take the leap.

Remember the grass is not always greener, all jobs and positions have stuff you have to put up with. Just find one you're willing to put up with the stuff! There will be stuff....................
