    Default Project completed…….almost

Last September I tore down an old rotting down lean-to behind our garage. The previous owners had cobbled it together and we stored a tractor under it. The carpenter bees had devoured it, the roof leaked. The posts were all uneven when it was built and it was a hazard. I decide to build a boat barn to house our Excel Bay Pro.

Had a block wall laid and apron poured as we kept the old concrete slab. Working off of three ladders and scaffolding I laid the plate and having no way to lift a wall section in place I put each individual stud up toenailing with 4 inch wood screws. Top plate went on and I put 2 x 10 roof rafters in place. The roof was lifted into place each sheet in a tractor bucket and raised high enough so I could lift them through the rafters. Got the shingles laid and the put the wall board in place. Wrapped as I went and then too 7 week off to help my wife with post op recovery.

Put the door and window in and closed in the soffits and fascia out of the tractor bucket. Put the 10 x 10 door in place off ladders and trimmed out the structure with pvc door trims, J channel around doors and windows and rat guard around the base. Started the metal last week and finished the exterior yesterday.

I have to wire the remaining outlets inside, the exterior light and exterior outlet and it is 100% complete. Also have to finish the short retaining wall. In the fall I may insulate and put up interior walls but….it’s time to go fishing!

Here are a couple of pics.

OK everyone, lets all guess how many times BEC fell off the ladder while doing this project. Sorry John.

But great job, lots of hard work. Great new home for a fine crappie hauling-in machine.
