Memphis TN. Hotel near airport or stay outside of town?

Going to fish in Mississippi the end of March. Will be flying home from Memphis. I know nothing about the town. Is it safe? Wondering if it okay to stay the last night near the airport or better to stay outside of town. Will be coming from the south on I-55. Flight is late morning so I've got time to drive into town and return car before flight.

Going to stay in Batesville and Grenada while fishing.

Nothing is safe in Memphis. Think bad part chicago/detroit. I avoid it like the plague

I agree. Stay south of Memphis- Hernando or at least Southhaven.

I would stay somewhere in Southaven. Still only 10 minutes from the airport straight up the highway and quite a bit safer. More places to eat nearby also if that matters.
