Default The Theme of Today's fishing

I Forgot was the them for today's fishing trip. A chilly 31 degree boat ride. I forgot to grab my heavier jacket before leaving the house. I used the rain/ wind breaker I had in the truck. I get the first dock I am going to shoot. Yep I forgot the remote for the trolling motor safely in the truck. I used the phone app. It is functional just not as good as the remote. I definitely forgot how numb cold wet fingers get in 30 degree weather. Things I will remember next time. Gloves, remotes, cold weather waterproof bibs and jacket. I was still a good trip. I put 12 in the boat and then back to the water they went. I did head back home earlier than I normally would have.

A trip or two like that will sharpen your memory for sure ! You will remember this going forward!

I made a trip out early yesterday but we were about 5° warmer! But still pretty cold with the 5+ mph wind !
So the night before my memory reminded me of a trip like this last year that I was very well unprepared for!
so I crossed all my t’s and dotted all my I’s this time the night before!
dry rags in da boat ! Check
A fresh bulk pack of hand warmers in da boat ! Check
A dozen pair of lined cloth gloves in da boat just in case a pair or 2/3 gets wet ! check
coveralls in da boat ! Check
Warm clothing layers laid on top of clothes I’m wearing ! Check
foot warmers laid on top of socks and insulated boots I was wearing! Check
remote laid on top of truck keys to go around my neck before going out the door! Check
stayed warm this time! Thanks to a trip just like this last year !

glad you had some action to take your mind off the things that were for gotten this time!

During the seasonal transition it is easy to forget all the stuff you need. We had some winter jacket days this week. Today I think it will be more fall.

Very true. It was a good shake down run. Some of my reels were stiffer in the cold. It reminded me I need to do some reel maintenance. I will clean and lube them this week. They need it anyway. Blew them off with compressed air already. Even bought cheap covers to put on them while in the rod locker

I used to run around without a jacket anytime in my teens, 20's and 30's. Still pretty hot natured but when it gets cold enough I need some extra clothing. Folks have a photo of Dad and I out in one of those rare South Alabama snows. Had been out there about an hour. My skin is getting thin in my 40's.
    short sleeves.

If it make you feel any better I have come to realize that one day (soon) I will be the old guy sitting around in a sweater and wrapped in a blanket in July!
Catch all you can when you can!

I have come to realize that being that cold is not real good for your joints. I now dress a little warmer

I have to laugh when I see what the kids wear to the bus stop in chilly weather. You would think it was summer. Ah, to be a teen again!
