What I read was that in the next 5 to 10 years landlines will be gone. If you look at a phone book from years ago and today's phone books it shows not very many landlines are still used. With it costing so much to keep up the lines I can see them shutting them off. Years ago a at&t phone employee told me pay phone was going to be obsolete I didn't believe him but guess what how many pay phone do you see today.
Look at all the phone exchange builds that are gone. You used to see them all over the place. Those Ma Bell buildings all looked the same. Passed one a couple of weeks ago out in the country being used for something else
