So 3 years ago I was able to rescue a one hundred year old plus 20x24 barn that a neighbor and friend was going to crush and bury in preparation for a new pole barn. I put vacation on hold that year for one week to carefully tear it down.

The wood has has been here in a lean-to out of the weather with the intention of building my wife a garden “shed”. I mixed and poured concrete pillars and set the frame band (4x6) to them with j hooks. I built the frame and windows and then roof rafters. The metal roof is from the barn as well and has been coated withsealant. The metal on the gables came special order from Menards.

I have been jointing and planing boards for the past month. About 3 weeks ago I had to take a trip to the emergency room after zipping 2/3 of my middle finger nail and nail bed off after a board slipped in the jointer. Let me tell you new blades are sharp!

The wood is mainly red and white oak, hickory, pine, with some walnut, ash mined in. I have a little work left to do to seal up the windows, paint the band and water seal the old “new lumber”.

Next week my wife and I are taking a social fishtancing vacation to Lake Cumberland for a week and I am glad to have it about complete.

Thanks for looking.
