    Default Health insurance

My group insurance through my employer is taking a nasty trend... my opinion. My question to you all is this. How many of you have a ppo plan and how many a hmo plan? What do the masses use?

Meant to be in off topic... oops

I retired about 5 years ago. Have a ppo plan. I used to complain about the cost until my wife had a quadruple bypass. It was a lifesaver for us. I live in a rural area in East Tennessee so we had to go to Knoxville for the surgery. Sometimes the things I complain about turns out to be blessings I take for granted. Just my take on it. Good luck.

Currently have a PPO but have had HMO in the past.

The HMO is generally the cheapest option as long as you stay "in network".

I have always been in a ppo except for 1 year I had a hmo. Couldn't get away from the hmo fast enough. I had appointments that took 1 hour of my time with the ppo. The same appointment with the hmo took 4 hours. No thanks.

This is exactly what scares me about an HMO. Like your wife I have had troubles: stroke, 3 heart attacks, triple bypass, have 25% use of my heart, and 6 years ago I was in a motorcycle accident that has left me permanently mentally disabled. Let's just say I see a few doctors in a years time. I can not take off work long enough to travel 1-2 hours away for an appointment. Just can't.

I get what you're saying. Love her heart my wife, has had a quadruple bypass, an endarterectomy on her right carotid artery and had a thankfully light stroke in November. She's had great care in Knoxville and I've spent alot of time thanking God for being alot smarter than me. But all that has happened in the last 27 months.
