Haven't shaved with a razor in years, haven't shaved period in 8 months. Really easy and convenient until you hang a beard in something or have to constantly clean food out of it.
I can't, I'm fishing.
Barbers do a nice job with a straight razor, it is kind of a treat. Now I just use an electric while watching the news, takes the boredom out of both.
Funny you should ask. A week before you posted the question I got to wondering how hard it would be to shave with a straight razor after returning from the barber shop where the barber uses a straight razor to shave around my ears and the back of my neck. My grandfather only shaved with a straight razor and in fact I have a sharpening stone handed down from my Mother that was his. I only wish I also had the razor.
I've been a safety razor shaver since my teens but when I moved into an office job in the eighties I went to an electric razor so that I could touch up quickly at lunch time. Now retired I'm back to safety razors. A few years back a friend gave me one of those straight razors with the changeable blades which he found his daughter playing with. It was his wife's who had been taking barber lessons. Thanks God she hadn't figured out how to open it.
Anyway fast forward to last night. All of a sudden I got the urge to try the straight razor. I had a nice 3 day growth on so it would be easy to see where I was going. I used a hot towel for a few minutes, then hot lather with my badger hair brush and then dove head first into my first straight razor shave. I was a little nervous at first but gained confidence as I went. I did the side burns and side of my face first and that worked out just fine. Then came my neck which was easier than I thought it would be. Doing my chin was a chore but I soon figured that out and it wasn't too bad. Now for my upper lip. It was tough but then I realized that my face had cooled and dried so I lathered up again and voila, that did the trick and now I was finished. I finished the event with a little nick on the front of my chin. Much to my satisfaction I had done at age 72 what my grandfather did all of his life. It was a good feeling to say the least.

Haven't shaved since 1974. Don't miss it a bit. The day I was discharged from the Navy was the last day I shaved.
Grew a goatee years ago to cut down on the area that needed shaving. Grow a beard from August to at Least March every year now, so nothing during Fall and Winter. The rest of the year, I use a disposable, and usually lather with soap in the shower...
