Links to other fishing forums are not allowed. I also don't see links to articles from other websites. I posted a link to a scientific research paper which I think is not an issue. There is a grey area however where research is included in articles on fishing websites. Today I decided to not post the link to an In Fisherman article because it could be considered promoting another website.
This is as much a question of forum culture as much as strict adherence to the rules. There is probably enough expertise among forum members to cover any topic so there is probably no need for external links it is just my habit to support my posts with links.
This is a question for the moderators but I thought that other members may like clarification as well. I'm perfectly happy not to use external links but maybe that is or is not what the admins want? Sorry if this has been covered before.
Links to other sites with articles is fine. But links to sites that are or include a "fishing forum" like ours is not. This stems from the early days when there were 20 sites trying to get a footing on the Internet on every topic available. These days, although it still applies, its not as prevalent an issue. Most forums have already been established. For instance, links to BBC, and Walleye Central are fine. But as a general rule, we don't allow links to fishing forums. I know that's kinda a gray line with the exceptions, but PM me if there's any doubt. Having said that, links to other sites articles are fine. Just make sure they don't have a fishing forum, they can't be trying to launch their forum, using ours.
