My favorite of his was "I got it bad & that ain't good". He will be missed.
One of my all time favorite albums is Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Leon Russell both played and managed that tour with Joe Cocker and a ton of great musicians. Leon Russell had a voice that will be familiar to many but didn't have a huge following. My son and I were looking forward to seeing him in Nashville in March when he was scheduled to open for Tedeski-Trucks Band at the Rineman.
Several years ago when my Father-in-law was still a Ford Lincoln dealer, he had bought a bunch (8 I think) of factory program used cargo vans. They got a call from somebody in Nashville that they were coming up to Benton to look at the vans. F_I_L thought they wanted a couple. He said 3 guys walked in and one of them was a really strange looking guy with long snow-white hair and beard with sunglasses he never took off. He stood by the front door and never spoke. The other 2 guys made the deal for almost all of the vans and all 3 left. It was only when they checked the paperwork did they realize the guy who stood by the door was Leon Russell.
The following song is one of my wife and mine favorites. I called our local oldies radio station a few years back and asked their morning DJ (we graduated high school together) if he had "Back To The Island" on his play list. He didn't and he asked if I had it on CD. I took my copy by the station and I saw him this past week and he said it is one of their most requested songs.
Enjoy!

Old enough to know better and way too old to care!
Well, he made it across the "tight rope".
Leonard Cohen passed away a few days before the elections, another great singer/songwriter gone. Thanks for sharing.
And I'm singin this song for you.
Can't hear his name without that running through my head. Truly was a GREAT man. Many songs to his credit that we hear and don't realize they were his work.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Tight rope, a song for you are some of my favorites, but my #1 is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xDyq_RcSo8 lady blue. RIP Leon.
