I really liked that.....:D ...Those telemarketers call my house all the time... I need to try something like that..... My message plainly says; "If you are asking or wanting something don't bother, all others welcome"....And how do they get ahold of unlisted numbers.....As much as phone companies charge, you should not have to worry with idiots.....I guess I have to have caller id just so I want pick up the phone. Sometime I wonder if phone companies and telemarketers work together....One of them are gonna stick you.......

I've dealt with telemarketers with a whistle before...that was fun.

Thats a good one. One time i had them try to sell me siding for the house so i let them talk and at the end i had one question. Do you have siding for a round house? They hung up. The reson i ask is there is 2 on the edge of town.

Here's what I do.

I interrupt the telemarketer mid-sentence and ask:

"Do you have a college education?"

I wait for the telemarketers reply, which is usually stalled by the (shocked)telemarketer, who has always replied to the question.

IMMEDIATELY after the telemarketer answers I jump in with:

"The reason I ask, is because I'm currently sending my son to college and I'd hate to think that after he graduates, the only job he can get is one like yours."

I guarantee you will hear a moment of silence on the other end of the line, hang up if you like, their taught not to pause. Most telemarketers feel so ashamed they'll get off their lazy bums and get a real job.

Once I have established that it's a telemarketer, I ask them to hold on for a moment, then I set the phone down and go back to what I was doing. When I hear the phone start beeping I hang it back up.
I do the same thing when a religious cult comes knocking. "Could you please wait a moment?", then close the door and go back to whatever I was doing.
They will wait a few minutes, but I think most of them are used to it, because they rarely knock again. They just leave.

The "Do not call list" works wonders. I haven't gotten a call in around 2 years now I think it is. Now you can still get calls from the police drives, and political compains.

It sucks that politicians are exempt from the do not call law.
