    Default Osage trees

I am looking at cutting some Osage trees Saturday. I have never cut any. What am I walking into? Is it gonna ruin my blade or is it easy to cut?

I cut it every day I am off. If its already dried out you will dull some chain quick. Wet it is hard on chain but not bad. Every couple of times I stop to fuel I sharpen my chain. I am getting a nice little firewood stash.

Send some of that dred stuff my way! I will make ya a couple duck calls for it. If its not cracked that is. If its freshly cut and you want to keep it from cracking......put some outdoor paint on the ends or even better poly-urethane.

I'll see what I can do. I wanted to have some calls made with wood taken off of my place.

Uh, guys, we sank as much osage orange (hedge apple) as we could get our hands on; it will last 20+ YEARS underwater. am not saying it`s easy to work with BUT if you want some fish attractors that are biologically supportive AND very long lasting THIS is the stuff ! save the branches 1" to 2" in diameter and set it in buckets, add cement and 8- 20 feet of water and put them out enmass !

I use to cut it all the time when I was heating with wood. One of the best woods to heat with. BUT don't put too many in your burner at once they burn very HOT best to mix with some other wood.
Make sure you split it wet. Once it dries its pretty mean stuff. Years a go they used it for fence post around here and there are still a lot of corner post still out there. Probably 80 years old.
Never gave it a thought but yes that would make some great bucket sets for crappie.
