Default Bad day fishin'- wheelchairs and walkers now.

Ok, my 5 year old has been begging me for a trip for weeks. We go to our usual spot of private water. While he cleans the water of it bluegill population, I decide NOW is a great time to herniate another disk in my spine. Ok, a good 1/2 mile from the ramp, this is gonna be fun. By nothing short of a superhero performance I get us back home. I had to use a grappling and rope to get us past the weed beds, as both trolling trolling motors couldn't manage it. Had to be this way, cuz the dang phone wouldn't work in the impoundment, we were all alone-- no help. Long story short, I spent Sunday in the ER, and Mon at the Dr., and this morning is an emergency MRI. Lots of paralysis testing and such. I'm hoping this doesn't mark the end of boats for me. Currently I'm on so many drugs that I bounce in and out of conscientiousness. I'm sure I'll get better soon. My little one says he'll buy me a bigger boat for a $100, when the bank gives us a the money (I wish I was 5 again). He means well.

Knock on wood...I've never had back problems but I know several people that do. I pity 'em cause it's DEFINITELY a show stopper! I hope the doc does something for ya and youre back on your feet soon. Sounds like that 5 yr old is really needing his Dad right about now. Take care of yourself and I'll be watching for a good report.

That's a bummer Brian. I don't have any back problems (yet) just old age problems. Hope you heal fast.

    Thanks guys.

The MRI shows I'm not too bad off, yet. The disk between L4 and L5 is herniated, degenerated, and the pop I felt on the boat last week was the same disk being torn. I've taken a mountain of drugs this past week. Current specialist says maybe an epidural- cortisone/steroid. Wifey is pushing for a 2nd opinion. My opinion of the MRI is that I shouldn't even be standing. The disk looks horrible compared to the other healthy ones. Anyway.. the steroid pack (Methylpredisolone)I got this time worked SO much better than the Ibuprofen treatment in 2006. In 2006 it took me 3 weeks to get out of bed. The Meth-steroid had me on my feet in a few days.
