    Default Teachers performance scores.

Teachers need to be tested, especially knowledge based tests. Teacher performance, based on students testing performance is crap.

What they really need is a parent performance test. This fact seems to be missing from the formula.

No government program is gonna make a kid smart. All these programs do is remove the parent from the responsibility loop.

There is a lot more to low scores than is immediately apparent. There needs to be an in-depth, long term investigation as to what is going on in society. Why doesn’t the act of teaching work anymore? Until that question is answered every other attempt at raising scores is temporary and futile.

Government controlled and union run education equates to one thing. Failure.

My wife is a teacher and students scores don't have every thing to do with it. It's all the crap they have to put up with from administrators, parents that need thrashing and having to be politicly collect. Most of the teachers in this part of the country don't teach for the money they teach for the kids. If it were only for the money they would all have gone for higher paying jobs to start with. Most teachers I know put in allot of extra hours in that is not required and also allot of their own money just to have enough materials to teach their class. Thank goodness for teachers because without them we probably wouldn't even be able to read these post.

Education should begin at home and should begin early. It's the responsibility of parents to create an environment conducive to learning and make children want to learn new things. There are way too many disinterested, lazy, ignorant parents who set their children up for failure before they even set foot in a classroom.
