Probably not feasible, but in my book ALL of BP's assets and those of ALL BP's upper level would be frozen until a tabulation of the cost can be made and paid.

If you own BP stock I'd be selling.

What a dandy of a pres. we have in Obama. Man I feel better now... after a 3hour stop over before heading to Chicago for his Memorial Day vacation, he finally came to check out the dmamage. Oil has been flowing out of the floor of the Gulf of Mexico for 30+ days... and he's just now stopped in to check it out. Boy I feel great about the situation now, glad to know he and the rest of federal gov't are top of it.

BP is shady. They bus in 300-400 employees for Obamas appearance... and the dude was barely on the plane to get to chicago before all the BP people were back on busses headed out of the area. What a crock. Shrimpers and everyone else losing their livelihoods have recieved $5k in compensation... with losses climbing above 10's of thousands in lost revenue. Just really sad imo.

I think T. Boone said it right when he said they would be talking about the well leaking for weeks to come. That none of this stuff they are doing now will work. they are just doing things out there now for looks. So they look like they are doing something. The only thing for sure that will stop it is relief wells. They better hurry up and drill those suckers.

It looks to me as if the whole gulf coast economically is toast. The fisheries are toast, the huge tourism industry is toast. Anything on the coast that even remotely relies on the gulf of Mexico is toast. The gulf of Mexico is being transformed into the worlds biggest cesspool as we speak. It can all be cleaned up but how long will it take. In two years most anyone running a business on the gulf coast will be out of business if that oil is still lingering. BP is not strong enough to pay everyone for their losses so those who are effected better get in line for lawsuits as fast as they can. Probably too late already. BP will also not be able to pay to clean up every ounce of oil that is spread over those thousands of miles of shore lines. They will not be able to pay for rebuilding the fisheries. They will go bankrupt. They are already playing political games. That bus load of jackazzes they sent down on the beach for cleanup was just PR.

If You think the government is going to "get" them, think again. We have been witnessing the price of crude oil going down over the meltdown of the European Economy. The fear is that demand for all commodities will fall and the lasting recession in Europe will drag us back down out of recovery because We are all a more global economy. The lower crude prices will actually help our economy. if You cut the cost of gasoline in half right now, it would cause the fastest economic boom the world has ever seen. Getting our energy prices down to a certain ratio to growth would be the key. Now our fearless leader comes in and stops all off shore production even though China, Mexico, Cuba and others are right out there in the same places and drilling their butts off. Our lower prices are lower because our crude oil stocks rose higher than analyst had predicted in the last monthly government supply demand report. Kiss that all goodbye now unless Europe just goes completely into the tank in a big hurry, our recovering demand here will start to outstrip this oversupply quickly because we have turned off the spickets to a big portion of our supply. remember what hurricanes do to gas prices. We just had Hurricane Obama blow through and with a wave of his hand, not only shut down oil production, but wipe away future plans making our supply numbers more certain that there will not be enough.

What does that mean to You? You guessed it! HIGHER GAS PRICES. could be high enough that Ethanol and Biodiesel will be able to compete without government subsidy. Who gets hurt? Us of course. On top of this, congress is going to try to pass a 32 cent a barrel tax on crude oil to pay for future oil spills when By law, the oil company responsible is supposed to pay for it. The oil companies won't pay this tax. they will pass it along to consumers. We will be paying for it.

Who will benefit the most out of oil prices going up? BP of course! and really the other oil companies foreign and domestic that will reap the benefits of getting paid more for producing less. all done because of the hurricane Obama. So much for the government looking out for You. They just gave the oil giants a great big present. If they wanted to harm them, they would open up drilling in places where it is safer to drill and legislate a quota that is higher than they are pumping now. If they wanted to hurt them, they would mandate higher Ethanol blends (this can be done in a way not to hurt marine engines).

The ones who need the help will get hurt. The ones who are doing the hurting will get the help. This is an azz backwards world we live in.CF
