It's important to note that this is the International Committee of the Red Cross and not the American Red Cross. The ICRC claims to be "neutral" (that makes sense since many of their leaders are Swiss.)

Who cares which branch or part of the Red Cross it is... their aiding the "terrorists" helping them to live and fight another day against US and Coalition forces... WTF is this world coming to? Unless their doing first aid with rusty and dirty gear, they'll never get another penny from me.

They're two completely different groups. Clara Barton got the idea of the American Red Cross from the ICRC, but the ARC is not neutral like the ICRC is.

The ICRC was founded in 1863 in Switzerland. To this day, it's headquartered in Switzerland, and all it's directors are Swiss. The Swiss have always maintained neutrality in any conflict, so their involvement makes sense. (I don't agree with it and wouldn't give them a dime of money, but it makes sense since it's a Swiss organization.)

I would not hesitate to donate money or blood to the American Red Cross.

Intentionally misleading reporting like that really pisses me off.

D4D is 100% correct. Local money given to the American Red Cross is not supporting terrorists unless you specify that it goes for international relief.

Saying that you will stop donating locally because of a story like that is like saying that you will stop dropping money in the offering plate at your church because one of the same denomination in Afghanistan sheltered the Taliban overnight.

You guys really need to check out who you are giving money to before you give them money, if in fact you actually do give them money and are not just trying to further mislead people.
