conference winners wouldnt work because teams like media favorite Notre Dame are not in a conference and more than one team in the SEC would be screwed. If they take teams ranked 1 thru 8 (nobody after eight is national contender anyway) they could determine a champion in three weekends which means everybody could get a week off to prepare and still have the championship game on New Years Day like it should be. Just think, you could have #1 and #2 playing for a national championship instead of a conference championship and eliminate the possibilty of co-champions.

I just want to add my two cents worth to this. I myself am ready to see a playoff system as well, but you know how it is, someone will never be satisfied. If a team beats a team real bad in the regular season, then say they get to play them again in a playoff but lose and the team they lose to wins out, they will say hey we beat them 1 time and they beat us 1 time, so we deserve a split title, there will always be whining going on I think. However atleast this does give teams an opportunity to claim a title that as of now they do not have an opportunity to claim. However i would like to add that I do not think a playoff would have changed the outcome of the teams who have won it the last few years. I think the teams who won it would have won no matter what. If I had to second guess that I would say the way Ole Miss was playing at the end of the season last year would have been a close call. I just think everyone should have a fair chance to claim a title, if you are undefeated, you deserve a chance.

I'm all for a playoff system, It just seems like the only reason the gov gets involved in anything, is so they can add more to their pockets, and make things worse than the were in the first place! Why can't "We The People" have a say in anything?? Oh, I forgot we put em' in office to do that for us. ( some of em' 10-40 yrs. ago! )

If two teams meet in the playoffs that have played in regular season, it doesnt matter because the championship game decides it regardless, this could happen in the NFL easily................and I'm not sure about how the outcome of past years would be because you know what they say about "any given Sunday"..........for instance, I'm sure the Gators wouldnt be a gimme in a playoff right now, and the Tide can breathe a sigh of relief that they dont have to see them again.

fishinrod, I agree about the any given Sunday thing. However after the way Bama drilled Florida, I think out of 10 games if they played, that Florida if all the cards fell thier way might claim one game on that given Sunday only. I just do not think Florida would beat Alabama in a rematch and I think most of the country would agree on that one. However I feel for those fans of TCU, Cincinatti, and Boise. I know if I was a fan of one of those teams I would be mad too. I know they do not play in a strong conference, but I believe they could beat most of the teams in the bigger conferences right now.

I was hoping someone would "get it" as far as the bigger picture.
What business is it of the Government of the United States of America to intervene with College football?
Where is it in the Constitution of the U.S. of A. ????

This Government is completely out of control. But don't let that deter anyone for wanting to use the power of the Federal Government to once again control something you do not agree with. JEEZE!

Does anyone even know what the Constitution is anymore??
