Makes sense but some leaks out by the time you get the plug back in so I always feel I didn’t put enough. My name literally means rain. Lol

The way it was explained to me by filling from the bottom it purged the air out. If filled from the top air could be trapped and the gearcase would not be full

If you put the top plug in first it will minimize what escapes out of the bottom before you can get the plug in

[QUOTE=fishervet;4201181]Why does the lower unit need to be filled from below and not the top?Seems at least for me I would be more confident in how full it is if I could fill it from the top until it overflowed .
It would take for ever to do it (fill from da top). The air would have no where to go. You'll never get the lower unit completely full. Ya gotta have a little air space for expansion.

Shouldn't lose much. Once you get the bottom plug in. You can always pull the top plug back out and add a little until you get to the desired level. Any time I did it I only lost a teaspoon or so. Not much at all

I thought you had it with the work you had done, might be time to call in a specialist.
