    Default Remembering the others

Just a quick reminder that we need to remember the "others" or elders. I called sneaky Pete's wife (Mrs. Barbara) yesterday and had a great conversation with her for about 30 - 45 minutes. I try to call her at least every few months just to check on her but I have to admit that it had been over a year since I last talked to her. With all that went on last year with the hurricanes and moving mom and dad in with us for 7 months until we found them another place (across the street from me) that I had failed in my duties on checking on an old friend's wife for awhile. Well as I said we had a great conversation and she had told me that she thought she might have accidentally blocked my # because she hadn't heard from me in awhile. Well that assures me that she really does enjoy people calling and checking up on her and I pledge to do a better job in the future. She sounded great and her and her 4 dogs, cat and multiple chickens are all doing well! Well I guess I am making this post just to remind us all that if we have some friends, especially the elderly, to take a few minutes out of your day and check on them, you may never know how much it means to them.

Great thought Dwyane. I have a couple of old friends that I keep in touch with also. One of them is Cajun Dave and the other is Mrs. Williams of Lake St. John. When it's been a while that I haven't called the Cajun, he gives me a holler like he did last week. I guess he thinks of me as an "old" friend, and that's alright with me. Both of these friends I met through CDC.

I like to stop by in person usually with a bag o crappie for the friends who fished and don't get out anymore or simply for good friends who have lost someone and appreciate a good visit and fresh fish. it's what I do with most of my ketch's. also those who never fish but do like that bag for dinner.

I try to do that also but with Covid, most of the elderly are sometimes scared of in person visits. Me personally, I would want the visits when I get older (hell I am older!) b/c I believe that helps keep you sane but everyone is different.
