    Default HAVE A HEART

Friday It was decided to go visit, Four paws rescue. When Ted got Diabetes it was because we had been giving all of our Dogs too many treats. We have all of our dog Food and Treats on Auto delivery from CHEWEY, including medicines. when Ted was fixed he started putting on weight until he was Twice the weight that was healthy. We were buying Milk Bone Medium sized bones by the 10 pound box but now we rarely give them one. As there were three or more boxes staring back at me in the living Room
After Two of our Senior Dachshunds passed last year I have been looking online at Shelters and Rescues trying to get anither Adult Doxie in Texas, Louisiana and Ark, filling out Adopt forms,, Most Rescues you have to live withen 100 miles. Doxies are pulled from High Kill shelters before they are listed by shelters... Big dogs are held in Southern rescues a while then Transported to Northern Stares where there is a High Demand for large Dogs. Many go by smaller Vans but there are even Simi- Trailers that even take them North -- Short Legged Dogs dont do well in deep Snow.
That brings me back to Four Paws Rescue, as I pulled into the driveway all the dogs started --- Booger alert - BOOGER ALERT --- I went in the Office and asked permission to go see all the dogs and give them Milk Bone treats. Thankfully the Dogs are not kept in small confinement cages, but larger dog Run enclosures . with two or three Dogs per Kennel. the back of the run has Igloo type Dog houses off the ground-- there are some Heat lamps to provide some warmth for some but not enough for all the Kennels -- Unfortunately some do not have a dog house for them to get into. Booger alert-- - I started giving every dog one or two bones and continued passing them out. as I moved diwn the line the Dogs that got a bone stopped barking untill every single dog had some treats -- the Personality of the residents really came out. Every Dog run had an Info page showing a photo, Sex, age and other info including when they were brought to Four Paws, those that I looked at had been there two months or longer. One Dog was in Isolation Quarrentine -- he was a survivor of Distimper but still needed to be kept separate ... For 20 Rescues 19 are operated by women --- all of the Dogs quieted down as they desided I was not a Booger after all --- I have an Igloo shelter sitting in my yard doing nothing -- which will soon have a new home for some poor Baby that has nothing to get into to stay warm
I urge those of you that have a heart, to go visit a Rescue. Look for what you can do for our four legged Friends. if you dont see anything that is needed --- DONATE --- I parted leaving about 8 Pounds of bones for them in the big box.

I did not think to take my phone out of my pocket -- Shelters and Rescues are on Facebook.... Some of the Poor dogs were so Starved they looked like the JEWS in the concentration camps of Germany -- but not any at Four Paws !!! The Dallas FT Worth area have 20 shelters and Rescues
