I just noticed the sell by date on that brisket, glad I didn't bye it.
Y’all know I like to cook different things when we get a few days of rain in the forecast. So yesterday found me cruzing the isles at the local grocery store. This is what I was after but the price changed the menu. Ended up with 2 packs of chicken thighs that were miss marked

It's insane what beef prices are nowadays for sure. I haven't been buying beef much since I've been trying to limit red meat in our family's diet, but two weeks ago I had a hankerin' for some country style steak and gravy that would not abate.
I went to the grocery store with the intention to buy some Angus Beef cubed steak, which I did find and buy. I couldn't believe that I payed almost $14.00 for what the fine folks at marketing called a six piece family value pack.
The craving prevailed that time, but I can assure you... beef (namely Angus beef) will only be a very occasional luxury in our house, which may be a "left handed" blessing when it comes to limiting beef consumption for health reasons.

Well I don't know about you good folks but to me the higher the price goes the tougher the meat gets. Chuck roast used to be my favorite. Slow cooked with onions in a black iron pot until it would melt in your mouth. Now there ain't no melting. I've even tried pressure cooking it to no avail. The meat will fall apart but the strings are tough a shoe leather..

Chip I just looked at one a couple hours ago up here. 5.98 lb and looked terrible. Needles to say it’s still laying in the store.
Crazy prices now days for sure! Chicken breast never been my favorite but when they marked the wings up to $3.00# Several years ago I stared figuring out how to cook the breast to be more juicy because they are only 1.99# for boneless skinless ! And I’m not paying $5.00# + for hamburger meat either I’ll do without ! Lol

Between venison and beef raised on the farm, I am blessed.
That price for a brisket seems outa this world!
