You might think a hen would give up after a while when they go Broody. when The eggs were removed there were two Golf balls put in the nesting boxes years ago to show the hens We had then where to put the Eggs. She does not lay any more while she is broody. I finally pried her off the nest and hid the golf balls and placed them with two others , now they were hidden, four little perfect golf eggs hidden ---She searched them out and took up the hidden Golf eggs and been sitting on them for over a month.. I had to Pry her off of them again with much opposition -- this time the Balls went in the house, she looks like she was ready to starve waiting for something to Hatch . I thought about getting some fertilized eggs from a neighbor because we have no Rooster but I dont think she could take the strain

Hens are particular some times. We used glass eggs but they were to catch the chicken snakes.
