X2! You can also use some anti seize product on those stainless bolts, it will help with the gaulding.

Thanks, but I dont think they are gaulding. I think that the hex was not made properly. I contacted the co. I ordered from and got a 30% refund. Some of the nuts would barely be 1/4" down the thread and the hex would strip. Some I used pliers and removed the nut and washers to re-use. I have a real nice proto allen socket set that I was using on a stubby 3/8 ratchet for most of them, so I dont think it was operator error. I tried thw 1/4 impact to see it going faster/ smoother may have worked but it didnt.

iF I was having that much trouble it would be time to get out the tap and make the threads before the screw went in.. Wood will heat up the screw and grip the wood.

Its not the wood doing it. The wood has a 1/4" hole for the 1/4" bolts. They just slide through, the hex head was the problem.

I put in some time today and have it as far as I can take it alone. I am going to take it to a friends welding shop to get the little welding that is needed. Just one piece is missing and that is the top cap, it should be monday. Cut, sand and rivit. After that its clean and paint(bedliner) and let it cure . Then motor back on and catch fish. I Wish I could. I think it is hard business to be in , but then I look at the boat yards here and they are over flowing. I wouldnt want to be that way. No time for fishing then. Besides my family and friends keep me busy with their stuff. Well that and farm work.
