Yes St. John,Concordia, and bruin are full of strippers. I see people trolling for them, but most people fish the lights at night.

The river does not effect those lakes at all. Perch are bitting pretty fair, I've caught probably a couple hundred the last month and a half. I have not fished for them as hard as do in the winter, they are bitting

That's definitely a White Bass, which I see folks call Stripers fairly frequently... I appreciate the info from everyone. We can usually locate them, and catch them fairly easily during daylight hours. Fun fish as long as you use medium weight gear. And, trolling is about as easy as it gets! My boat is set up for flat lines, downriggers, and planing boards. Like I said up front, I was seriously after them way back then... MY camp at Tensas puts me a little closer to the lakes in LA, so I will probably try them all at some point. Night fishing the lights is good too. Just haven't done much of that...

If someone has some specific directions to areas on the lakes where these fish hang out, I would definitely appreciate the heads up. Cause they really aren't everywhere... This time of the year, they usually move up into shallower water in the late afternoons, and blow up shad... Trolling a deep running Redfin, or a Rattletrap, can be very productive, as can casting a RoadRunner... Bigger fish hit bigger lures in my experience...
Launch in New Roads across from Catholic Church.....the river channel runs on New Roads side.....troll all day long, stripers are there......
If I remember right, hybrids have broken lines down side.
Romans 6:23
Used to launch at the public landing, run down the lake about halfway, cross to the other side and pick them up in about 14 feet of water every afternoon.... Yes, Hybrids have broken lines on their sides... Caught them up to about twelve pounds in False River back then, average fish was about seven or eight...
The light house canal on false river is a good spot when the gates open.
Ephesians 1:13
While looking around YouTube I found a video of Andrews running a crankbait around the lights, and catching Hybrids... We, have caught a few using crappie jigs, along with some really nice crappie, at Lake Bruin around the lights on calm nights. Trolling is just a really easy way to go, when the hot weather sets in, cause the constant "breeze" keeps you cooled off a bit. And. we are usually out in more open water, so not as much chance that they can wrap you around a pier, and break off...
Occasionally, you also get a real surprise, and catch a largemouth suitable for framing, if you are into that!
