    Default Back to work

After 40 years in the oil and gas business, I'm done with that. Not going back, no way. Received a call from the Petroleum Engineering department head last night at 10:30 asking me to please come back to my old position at the university. Was there six years ago. Haven't even contacted them after being laid off. That there just fell into my lap. Will teach engineering again instead of practicing it.

Needed to get back to work so I could get some rest. Been working myself to the ground. Not ready for retirement at all. Lost 30 pounds over this ordeal.

Some people just dont like retirement........i do....i do what i want and when i want on my schedule. I could go back to work tomorrow if i wanted but i dont need to and dont want to. I am having fun enjoying life at my own pace.

Good for you! Somebody has to be willing to part with some wisdom! Now if the students are smart enough to pay attention.

Thanks fellas. Redge, the engineering students are typically clean cut and disciplined, unlike the liberal arts students. I shouldn't have left that position six years ago, but was given an offer I couldn't refuse in the industry. Another position I didn't even apply for, came out of the blue. Won't happen again to be sure. I'll coast with this until I feel like retiring. A position like this is like being semi-retired. A tremendous amount of time off, work less than 40 hours a week, etc.
