You're right TF1, it's speculation and many of the big ups and downs in the markets are caused by speculators. That's why markets go overboard in both directions. When it going up the speculators push it up higher than it should be and when it goes down they push it to extremes. It's all about the money.

You are right on point with that. I've been wondering, if we have an oversupply of 500,000 - 2,000,000 barrels per day, how long before the world runs out of storage capacity? It is going to be very interesting when tanks are topped-off, someone is going to have to shut-in.

That's right, you'll save on oil changes. The most efficient way is a dedicated cng vehicle.

I think the best bang for your buck (you'd have to do the math but close to $.80 a comparable gallon)would be a fill station at home. Cost are coming down for these.$500 range. If your using the vehicle for commutes close to home even better.

You fellas know I can go off about that. The export ban here no longer exists, and the first shipment is going out this week here. I was hesitant about that at first due to national security concerns, okay with it now for the time being (and I stress - time being). Our strategic reserves held in the vast amount of salt caverns we have are drawn down on occasion for various reasons with plenty of capacity for more.

The "lifting cost", or I should say, the cost of producing a bbl of oil varies a great deal around the world. The Muslim nations have attempted to choke us due to the advances we have made in the past couple of years. Their costs far exceed the current cost presently, ours doesn't in many regions. They're losing money fast and will choke before long. We may very well be down to the point of operating on a shoe string budget with a skeleton crew. We will survive though - we always have. My two cents.

As an interesting note while I typed bbl of oil in the previous post. A barrel of oil (bbl) is 42 U.S. gallons, not 55 gallons. You may wonder why (then again, you may not) it is at 42 gallons, and why the abbreviation of bbl? The early producers of oil had to ship it some way, so they used whisky barrels which were 42 gallons. Of course the whisky barrels they used couldn't be used again for whisky, so they painted them blue. Thus, blue barrels - bbl. Never mind, my thoughts are random.

Tracker thanks for that tidbit! Wasn't a week ago I heard the 42 gallon bit and was scratching my head. Now I can quit scratching. Thanks.
I understand the random bit, quite well.

Yes, but what most people see and think is a barrel is a 55 gallon drum. Filled and emptied many of them where I worked, but most were chemicals, some oil. We also used ethanol in our process. We could get it in 55 gallon drums filled to 50 gallons. And it was pure 200 proof. But alas, to keep people from stealing some and trying to drink it(which you could), we would open the bung on each drum and add a gallon of hexane. That was called denaturing it. And making it poison to drink.

I think that would be ideal, for those who have natural gas available at home. Do stations sell CNG by Gasoline Gallon Equivalent? The posted station prices I see are higher than regular gasoline prices.
