When you've had a companion like that for years, they do get under your skin and it is hard to lose them.

I had to go meet mom and dad at the vet's office last Friday to put down our chocolate lab "Grace" after 12 years. She could barely stand up and she lost control of her bodily fluids. It was time but still a hard thing to do. I told mom that anyone else would have put her down a year ago. Bruce, I had a black lab just out of high school that passed away shortly after (around 30 minutes) I had come back home to mom and dads and loved on her for a bit. Dad went back outside and she had passed. She waited for me to come home to tell her bye. Prayers to your daughter and family, I know how they feel.

Let's not talk about putting dogs down, it breaks my heart. Been there and done that. I really enjoy each evening when my labs jump in the bed with me each night, makes me smile big time. I know their time is coming. Me and them is different than most folks don't understand. I tear it up knowing they're happy to be with us.
I'll have you know that they're excited about the upcoming SEC football season. We enjoy our time together.

NCAA two-a-days are going the way of tear-away jerseys and the wishbone formation. The NCAA has decided it's not "safe", with the players getting heat stroke, etc. Give me a break, it's football. Did it myself for four years - in West Texas. It is what it is, part of the Friday night football. If you don't have the goods to it, then don't. If the Walmart shopper parents have a problem with it, then let their boys continue to play their video games in the A/C on the couch.
The wishbone formation was brutal, shove it down their throat. RIP Darrel Royal. "Meat on the Hoof" was his tactic. Texas football at it's finest.
Before long, we'll have these showboats dancing around playing flag football. That's what I've got to say about that. And, I'm sticking to it.

PS, hope your daughter handles the loss well.
Sorry for your loss also Dwayne.
Haven't had a connection here to say so earlier.

The eight week summer semester is over. Interesting some kids care, others don't. You would think they would given the money they spent. Some just getting by and can care less. They'll spend their money again repeating the course in my classes. Of course, I'll be called up for someone who thinks otherwise - with the University. Then, I have to justify what I did. Too bad, I have my reasons. A major pain, big time. Regardless who these folks are, who they know, etc. You learn the material I teach - period.

What's wrong with flag football? Two of my 3 daughters played and they had as good a career in football as most of us who played in high school. I regret letting them play. Stupid on my part, as well as stupid to have played. Contributed to the joint pain I have now. One blew out a knee. One of them even became a liberal and demanding teacher also. Glad she did not get a concussion or serious injury while playing. In fact teacher of the year at her school one year and Walmart teacher of the year for her parish. Walmart gave her $100 and her school $1000. And she loves and compliments her students for trying. As far as 2 a days in this heat, stupid idea. Every year some kids die at football practice and some in games. Should be outlawed. Then a few get scholarships and the schools make tons of money off their backs. Then a few get big dollars to play NFL and later some can hardly walk and some donate their brains to science to try to figure what went wrong. If betting was not legal and controlled by a select few, football would be way less important and a lot cheaper to go to games. That is where real fans watch games, after stopping at Walmart for tail gate supplies.
