The eggs are put on the smoker raw.
Low and slow is the key. They are better the next day after cooling in the fridge overnight.
The smoke on the shell permeates into the egg while its cooling.
You can certainly eat them warm right off the smoker too.

I've done them at 250 degrees in two hours, but the smoke doesn't get time to penetrate the shell unless you let them sit in the fridge overnight.
I prefer 175-200 for 4 hours plus. Put them in at the same time you do the meat, and leave them in the entire time.
Smoked potato's are great too!
