nothing annoys me more than all these retail places that promise the moon and deliver a..........peanut. Sorry to hear that story...I feel your pain....
No help for me......
My 2009 Wildcat 30LSBS By Forest River was just out of extended warranty and the slide outs leaked and started DE lamination.
I'm on my own with this one.....
Oh and I forgot to share this.......
I was camping in Farmerville, LA. when I noticed a tire coming apart.
During taking the tire off I noticed that the bearing was bad.
Spent the week in West Monroe, LA. looking for the Lippert 'NEVER LUBE' bearing.
Finally found the 'SEALED NEVER LUBE' bearing.
Bought it to a mechanic $30 to have it pressed in, only to find out the hub was bad!
Had a call to AXLETECH to get a hub over nighted to me.
After seeing the invoice for $457 I called and canceled the order.
Payed another mechanic $30 to press the bearing back in and eased home without incident.
Went to the place that I bought the camper from, and had to get info off the axle to bring to them, only to find out they recommended changing out both hubs and Lippert 'NEVER LUBE' bearing to the tune of $800 plus labor FOR ONE AXLE!
Went to a local axle shop and was able to purchase (2) TWO EASY LUBE 6000 pound, instead of the 5200 pound axles that it came with for $789 including tax.
Shame on them when I want to buy a new camper because it WILL NOT BE FROM FOREST RIVER!

I have a 2009 Forrest River Puma 26RLSS. I have kept anything that might need fixing, fixed. They cost way more than you get. The camper has more than paid for itself in going on 6 years. I spend 4 to 5 months a year in it. That said, I would not buy a Forrest River trailer again either. Too many little nit picking things that wasn't done right at the factory. Their quality control sucks.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Glad to see this post was looking at on of their 5th wheels
Hate to hear of your problems. When I retired we sold our house, put our furniture in storage and traveled and lived full time in our motorhome for 5 years before building a new home and retiring from RV travel. You learn to expect and deal with all kinds of issues in this lifestyle and I found this website to be very valuable in dealing with issues that cropped up. We were very fortunate that our Winnebago Adventurer never once left us stranded in those 5 years, but we did have some maintenance issues to come up. It was rare that I could not find someone who had already dealt with the issue and posted their experience.
I call this the CDC for Rving. iRV2 Forums
Hope it helps those of you in the RV life as much as it did me.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
I'm on my 4th rv. 3rd 5th wheel. All have problems. I keep mine in a building when not using and that helps, but my 3rd was a Fleetwood product and it stayed with something broke. I had good luck with the 2nd and it was a forest river Cardinal. Anyway good luck , they are worse than boats to maintain.
I've owned RVs for 40 years and had trouble with all of them; however some was much worse than others. I had a Pilgrim by Forest River and it was the worst. I had to take it back to the factory for repairs and still had major problems; they wound up replacing it. The best I've ever owned is our current fifth wheel; it's a Suite by DRV. We've some minor problems with it and the factory was quick to make corrections. I feel your pain Randy......
Best one I ever own was a KZ. Small family owned company that took care of their customers. Seems all RVs age out when they get about seven years old. Trade them or sell them at that age before they become a money pit.
I have a friend that owns one of the largest RV dealerships in the south. I once asked him if he was to buy a RV which brand would he buy. He laughed and said he wouldn't own one. He said it is cheaper to stay in a cabin or hotel and have room service than owning and maintaining an RV.
prefers shiners, cornerstone LIKED above post
I guess the worth of it depends on how much you use it. I spent 15 months in mine in Canadian, Texas and rooms were $80-100 a night with no break for weekly or monthly stays. I paid $350 to park my RV. There was nothing to rent; the school board was building homes to attract new teachers. That's $5,250 versus $45,000 . Also if you have pets or children it complicate things. I'm sure for a lot of people it isn't the right financial decision but I like to know who slept in that bed the night before.
