    Default Deer Sausage and Turnips.

All this garden and Gumbo Verde talk made me hungry for something out the garden. I have been eating salads out the wazoo and needed a change. I have been wanting to eat some sausage and potatoes after reading about them on the forum. I thought turnips are a root veg too and cook like a potato. So I took a pound of jalapeno, garlic, and green onion deer sausage, and a couple pounds of turnips and cooked them up. I took an onion, TB spoon garlic, Nu Nu's seasoning and sausage and sweated them in butter till the onions turned translucent. I added the diced turnips with a little water and simmered them till tender. Next I turned up the heat and cooked out the remaining liquid. I then added 2 TB sugar, green onions, and 4 TB butter. LOL.....Cappy thats a big bowl. It's an optical illusion. When finished I wanted to lick the bowl. I wanted seconds but wanted to eat the rest tomorrow. I don't think the turnips are going to make it to the jar. I might just eat them all. Cappy if you haven't eaten turnips this way you need to try it. Do you have any good turnip recipes?

I don't really like turnips but if you cook them right, they taste like potatoes. Looks like you cooked them right! Thanks for the pictures.

I bet that turnip dish would also be good with some sweet peas in it or a little bacon.

Nothing like turnips and wild game, be it rabbit, duck, squirrel, deer, maybe even some goo.
