Default Fried fresh shrimp this evening

Fried some fresh shrimp this evening. They look weird because I butterfly them. A light beer batter is what we like, don't care for the thick cornmeal as breading. Did them in the outdoor kitchen because we don't care for frying in the house. That along with some fresh squash with them fried will work nicely this evening:

Hush puppies - mercy! Haven't had those in some time. Wish I had a decent recipe.

Will give you one ....Its ScottV's recipe....its the one I always use

    ScottV's Hushpuppies

1 1/2 Cups Sunflower Corn Meal Mix
1 Small (Pull Top) Can Cream Corn
    1 Egg
    1 1/2 Cups Chopped Onion
    2 Tablespoons Chopped Jalapeņo

Mix well and add a little water, a couple of tablespoons, to get the right consistency, and spoon into hot oil. Enjoy

We'll have some fresh shrimp tomorrow. I just picked up 50 pounds of 21/25's for 2 dollars a pound. Have them on ice until the morning.

Mercy Gene at $2.00 a pound. That is dirt cheap, you must know someone who has a boat bringing them in. Don't blame you buying 50 pounds.

Meanwhile, since Dwayne was talking about gators, couldn't help myself. One pound pulled out of the freezer and thawed. Into the fryer along with some more sliced squash:

Will work nicely with a coconut cream pie Ann is making me for Father's Day this evening.

Man Gene, $2 pound for 21/25s is a deal for sure! Randy, you going to make me take some shrimp out to cook! Never really thought about frying squash, will have to give that a try. Not crazy about squash but don't hate it either. As far as the hush puppy recipe, looking on the recipe thread for BamaFan's recipe, some of the best I have tasted. I will look and see if I have it in a PM if you can't find it.
