Read in the paper this morning that states are debating raising the road tax on fuel to make up for their losse in price of oil.

Danny hit the nail on the head. When the taxes get where they want them, then look out for rising prices. But no, infrastructure is not in the cards just like there
were no shovel ready jobs either. It's called politics and yeah, if you like your gas prices now, you can keep your gas prices.

True Joe, but once the taxes go in effect (both state and federal) they are there here to stay, and will never be reduced. They will have to do this to survive in the current situation. And, once we recover form this, gasoline prices will sky rocket. We will recover, it's the nature of the business. Been there and done that. Where I work, management was told to put a plan in place to reduce 20 % of the work force. The list goes on in this industry currently.

I feel for the guys facing this mainly because who knows how long this downturn will last.

Dad worked land rigs for a small local outfit through the highs and lows of the 80's till he got on at the fire dept in 91. It was always boom or bust not much in between.

NAFTA put my mom out of a job twice in the 90's. First when Jordache jeans packed up and went to Mexico, then when the Dickies factory did the same just a couple yrs later.

I wonder right now how much longer my job will last being in the paper industry. China is the bully on the block and the business's that stand any chance of survival are culling the weaker machines and mills as we speak.

Been looking for something else but those opportunities are few and far between.

Hard times are here to stay for most folks regardless of what those three letter news stations try to tell you.
