I agree with you. My Dad was a big Jimmy Newman fan and because of it I've listened to him for many years. Sorry to hear it but even the good ones have to go.

Mamou Native Jimmy C. Newman dead at 87

NASHVILLE, Tenn.(WKRN)- Longtime Grand Ole Opry star and member Jimmy C. Newman passed away on Saturday night in Nashville following a brief illness.
According to a press release, a public service will be held on Wednesday at the Ryman Auditorium at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a visitation and memorial service for close friends and family.
Newman and his band, Cajun Country performed at the Opry as late as earlier this month.
The country artist was born in Mamou, Louisiana in 1927, and formed his own band that blended country music with Cajun soul.
Newman is remembered for his hit songs including "A Fallen Star," "Cry, Cry Darling" and "Alligator Man."
Contributions in his honor can be made to the Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund.
Jimmy C. Newman was 87.
