One of the prettiest floors I have ever seen was Cherry
Maybe it's because all the cypress I have gotten, even in the past, have been the "sinkers" from the basin - don't know. But it's extremely hard, almost as bad as the Chinese Locust wood I work with on occasion. All blades, lathe knives, etc. have to be extremely sharp otherwise I burn the wood.
You're right G about the oak. I tongue and grooved 3/4" red oak for the downstairs in the house - that was tough. Ann wants me to do the same thing in the addition. We don't really care for the laminate they sell now a days. Tongue and grooved long leaf pine for upstairs - that was much easier. Debating if I should do the same for the addition.

I bet, would also like to see a floor of pecan.
Some cypress projects. One of the kitchen cabinets, it's tall because downstairs I have a 12 ft. ceiling:
A bathroom vanity. Tiled the top with crystalline tiles, used a bowl as a sink (this was 15+ years ago before it was "fashion"). Pretty cool I thought:
Walls in same bath laid with some rough cypress:
I have some really cool ideas about finishing the addition.

I was given a tour of a house in western Michigan years ago. It belonged to the Yankee officer who captured Jefferson Davis at the end of the Civil War. They pointed out a single board that served as the kitchen counter top and it was nearly three feet wide. If I remember correctly they said it was walnut. It must have been a huge tree.
Walnut is beautiful wood....I made a coffee table out of some years ago. It is very hard to work as it will chip and brake out very easy.

I guess I'll have to drive over there and pick it up since it's not being used G. While I'm there you're going to have to tote me around pulling the crank baits.
