    Texas A&M aviary construction underway
The Texas A&M University veterinary school is building a $2.8 million, 11,000-square-foot aviary that will have the capacity to house hundreds of birds and have a hospital, laboratory, and isolation and quarantine rooms in addition to teaching space. Veterinary school dean and veterinarian Eleanor Green said the school's avian programs have been steadily expanding, and professor and veterinarian Ian Tizard said the core mission of the facility will be to teach "veterinarians how to handle, how to grow and how to manage birds." Like everything the Aggies do, they have one of the world's best vet schools. When I was there I worked a while for a local taxidermist. The first thing he had me do was flesh out an African lion's cape from the vet school. Don't know how it wound up at TAMU but it died and the vet professor was having it turned into a rug.

I read an article in the Florida Times Union about " Beaks" It Is the only place in North Florida that can rescue wild birds, restore them to health and the wild. I was working in a small shop building Conversion Vans . A bird that looked like a falcon got into the building and flew around in the rafters for 3 days. All birds of Prey are protected so I called Beaks. They said the bird would not fly out unless it saw a mouse outside the door and there was no activity in the shop. I made arrangements for them to come after dark when the Bird went to roost. My brothers use to catch Pigeons in a warehouse in West Monroe unharmed and take to Grandmas barn. I had to climb out in the rafters , but was successful in catching the bird which Beaks took back with them
