Dubard's dewberry (blackberry) Cobbler
Fruit Filling
1 Cup Sugar
1 to 1.5 TBSP Corn starch
1 Cup Water
3 Cups berries
Mix sugar and corn starch together in a pot on stove. Gradually add water. Turn fire on. Bring to a boil; boil one minute stirring constantly. Then add berries. Turn fire off.
Dough
1 Cup Flour
2 1/3 TBSP Sugar
1 1/2 tsps. baking powder
1/4 to 1/2 tsps. salt
3 TBSP oil
1/2 cup milk
Mix all dry dough ingredients and then sift. Add 3 TBSP oil or shortening. Use fork to mix oil with other ingredients. Stir in 1/2 cup milk.
Use a 1 1/2 quart baking dish sprayed with pam. Pour fruit filling into baking dish. Drop spoonful's of the dough on top of the hot fruit filling. Drop pats of butter on top of dough and filling and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 25 minutes.
